Why does India need a rare disease policy?

There are around 7000 rare diseases in the world but in India there is no proper

healthcare policy to address these rare diseases which are all life threatening, chronic and progressive in nature. So, there is a need for a rare disease policy to address all these challenges right from diagnosis, treatment and supportive care. That is why a rare disease policy is very important for India.
